  • How do you price your services?

    A variety of factors go into the cost of service. For example, location, duty requirements and number of hours. We would be happy to meet with you and discuss what your specific needs are.

  • What forms of payment are accepted?

    Personal or business cheques made payable to “Absolute Security Ltd.” Are accepted. The Agency is not responsible for cash sent through the mail.

  • What equipment/uniforms can a guard utilize for construction site?

    Guard must be wearing the required PPE (personal protective equipment) while on site.

  • Do we provide guard dog services?

    No

  • When can an individual begin providing security guard services?

    Only after the individual has been issued a security guard license under the authority of Private Investigators and Security Services.

  • What kind of background check is performed on security guards?

    We conduct an extensive internal investigation including prior employment and personal references. If necessary, we search into applicant’s criminal background.

  • Are your security officers in uniform?

    Yes. We offer a traditional police style uniform, with company badge and security patch. In addition, we can offer a concierge style uniform consisting of a blazer and tie. Our construction site security services are provided with PPE (personal protective equipment)

  • What type of training do your security guards receive?

    Our training program consists of classroom training that targets job requirements. In addition, all security guards receive specific on-site training for each individual client. All security guards are properly trained before starting their assignment.

  • Are your security guards supervised?

    The security guard checks in and off duty on agency’s automated system using their cell phone, that verifies the guard’s location and keeps a record of when the guard is on duty and also confirms how often a guard is performing patrols and writing reports. Absolute has supervisors out in the field that routinely monitor the performance of all team members. Through their supervision, training and inspection our clients have the peace of mind and high-quality service.

  • Do the security guards keep daily reports?

    Depending on management needs, daily reports can be provided for each shift. Incidents are immediately reported to clients by a phone call from our field supervisor.

  • Is your security company licensed and bonded?

  • Do you have insurance that would protect me from liability?

    Absolute Security Ltd. carries general liability insurance.

  • What “powers of arrest” do security guard have?

    A security guard has only the same powers of arrest as a private citizen, and no others.

  • What are the responsibilities of a security guard at Absolute Security Ltd.?

    Our guards are employed at client sites to help protect our clients’ property, their valuables and their employees. This is done through patrolling, monitoring and reporting techniques by exercising vigilance, integrity and helpfulness. Our security guards are first class customer service expert. As the nature of our business changes, security guard job responsibilities also change, security guard job duties are based on individual client needs.

  • Do I need previous security experience?

    No. though previous experience is an asset, anyone who meets our basic application requirements is encouraged to apply.

  • What are the qualifications needed to work at Absolute Security Ltd.?

    Our basic employment requirements for security guard include: • Minimum age of 18 • Proof of eligibility to work in Canada • Security guard license • A reliable means of transportation and communication (i.e., phone or pager) • Ability to read, write and speak English • Willingness to participate in our pre-employment screening process (drug screen and background checks)

  • Are there any standards on appearance?

    Our security guards are the “face” of the agency and we believe that appearance reflects professionalism. Our employees are expected to maintain an acceptable personal appearance that mirrors the uniform and appearance standard in our employee handbook

  • What are the work hours?

    Security is a 24/7 industry with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts fiving our employees the flexibility to balance work/life needs. This is important to both Absolute Security Ltd. and our employees.

  • How is the pay?

    The way our industry is designed, security guard wages are determined by the contract requirements, the job duties performed and the facility to which they are assigned. There are other variables, such as province minimum wages, marked and geographic pay differentials. At Absolute Security Ltd. we believe that there is more to compensation than a paycheck.   • Do you help me get a guard license?

    Guard license requirements vary from province to province. Our management can advise you of what requirements and/or any assistance provided to obtain necessary guard license or registration if applicable.

  • Do you hire for part-time positions?

    Yes. Whether you’re looking for full-time or part-time work, we offer non-traditional shifts, flexibility and competitive hourly wages.

  • Can you work with my school schedule?

    Security is a 24/7 industry with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts fiving our employees the flexibility to balance work/life needs. This is important to both Absolute Security Ltd. and our employees. You will work with local scheduling staff and branch management to identify open available shifts, minimum site requirements, and based on your availability.

  • My English is not strong can I still work as a security guard?

    While the high-profile sites will likely require strong English skills, there are positions available that involve looking after equipment and fire watch where there is little interaction with other.

  • Is it dangerous working as a security guard?

    Working as a licensed security guard gives you additional responsibilities including responding to emergencies and potentially dangerous situations. However, your safety is always first. You are not expected to put yourself in harm’s way. The police are better equipped to deal with these situations. For higher risk sites it may be mandatory to have 2 guards patrol together. The guards may also be equipped with a tactical vest, a baton and handcuffs. For sites with a large number of people, there are always numerous guards, supervisors and sometimes paid duty police officers available to assist at any given time.

  • I am not able to stand or walk for long periods of time can I still work as a security guard?

    Although there are many positions that require you to be on your feet for long periods of time, there are positions where you can sit at a desk or at your post to perform your duties.

  • What skills are essential for being successful as a security guard?

    Good judgment is critical. Although you will be able to contact a supervisor or manager when you are unsure how to act, there will be times you have to make a decision on your own. Management may be occupied, there may not be enough time to speak with management. Written and verbal communication skills are essential in de-escalating situations, completing incident reports and interacting with colleagues and management. Finally, depending on the position you may need to write emails and complete other documentation.

  • What can I expect working as a security guard?

    You will interact with a variety of people and see behind the scenes of events, businesses and other operations you normally would not be able to our would have to normally pay to gain admission to. It is common for shifts to be 8-12 hours long. There are positions where it Is more customer services oriented involving answering phones and greeting visitors such as at a condominium. Other sites are more hands on involving removing undesirable individuals such as at nightclubs and bars. At some sites you will work with several other guards such as at a mall or sporting events. Other times you will work alone and have very little interaction such as for fire watch. Some sites there will be more frequent conflicts. Others only an occasional fire alarm or medical. Management expectations also varies. At some site’s management wants to be kept in the loop at all times, other sites only during major incidents. Although incidents and day to day activities may vary at a site, once you are familiar with the procedures, each day will follow the same format with the same contractors showing up an employee’s e.g. Opening up in the morning, cleaners on site, hourly patrols and lock ups in the evening.

  • How do you ensure accurate reports and good conduct from your security guards?

    Guards are given refresher courses every six months to ensure that their skills and expertise are up to date, testes are given out, strict protocols are issued to each security guard in the event of a new contract.

  • How much does your service cost?

    Generally, we come out on top as the most cost effective, but now always. In those cases where we are not, we strongly advise anyone who has received a lower quote than ours to look at the overall picture before making an informative decision. Choosing a security agency based on the lowest price and nothing else can result in negative, such as poor employee retention, lack of effort on the job, etc. Billing rates are determined on a case to case basis. Some factors that determine a billing rate are location, duration of required services, hours of coverage, and industry type.

  • Can I work as a security guard without a security guard license?

    No. You can not work as a security guard without a license from local authorities.
